As the holidays approach we all seem to look for dessert recipes special. Not just any old dessert will do. Sometimes, it is a favorite of the family or who is a family tradition. If you want to change things up a bit or start a new tradition of your own, try this recipe for a date Holiday Nut Pudding. This pudding is best when served warm so it is best when served at home. If you plan to take it elsewhere, Be sure there will be a heating oven, microwave or other means to keep warm to serve.

HOLIDAY DATE NUT PUDDING
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

1 cup dates
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp tea baking soda

Put the dates in a small heat proof bowl. Sprinkle with baking soda and pour boiling water over all. Cool.

1 cup sugar
1 egg
3 c. to unsalted butter
1 tsp tea baking powder
1 / 2 teaspoon salt
1 tsp Tea Vanilla
1 1 / 2 cups all purpose flour
1 / 2 cup chopped nuts of your choice

In a medium bowl mix the cream with the sugar, butter and egg. Add yeast, salt, vanilla, flour and eggs, mix well. Add this mixture to the mixture of dates and mix until smooth.

In a 9 x 12 dish or 13-inch pan combine the following:
2 cups dark brown sugar
2 cups boiling water
1 tsp unsalted butter

Pour the mixture of dates on the brown sugar mixture in pan. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Warm with ice cream or whipped vanilla Serve cream.
